4 Ways to Get Out of a Bad Mood

The circumstances of life don’t have to dictate what kind of day you’ll have. In the same regard, just because you might be having a bad moment, doesn’t mean the whole day has to be bad. In fact, you have the power to go from a bad mood to a good mood…you really do!

Here are 4 simple things to help you readjust and get back in a happy zone.

  1. ACTIVATE

Activate your body. Get moving. Go for a walk. Get some vitamin d. Get your body in motion. This will do wonders for your mood.

Activate your mind. Have a “go to” book that you have marked for when you need a “lift” in your spirit. Whether it’s an inspirational book or a list of affirmations, put it in your nightstand so when you’re feeling low, you can pull it out for encouragement.

Activate your spirit. Pray and ask God to help you find the joy in the midst of it all. Declare God’s Word over your life.

Activate your environment. Listen to happy, uplifting music. Put on an inspirational podcast. Take charge of your environment and set the tone for happiness.

2. HYDRATE

Drink some water! Yes, for real! Did you know dehydration can put you in a bad mood? Not only that, dehydration causes poor concentration, muscle and joint pain, back pain, lack of focus, headaches, dizziness and a lack of energy.

Hydrate and give your body what it needs. When your body is happy, your life gets happy.

3. ELIMINATE

To go from a bad mood to a good one, you’re going to have to eliminate some things:

Unhealthy thoughts. Get rid of those thoughts that are taking you to a deeper, darker place.

Unhealthy, processed, fast, junk foods. Nourish to flourish. Remember, good food equals good mood.

Negativity. The more negativity you subtract from your life, the more positive your life will become

Clutter and mess. Clean up your space! Clutter equals chaos. Clean brings serene.

Unhealthy, depressing conversations. You know what I’m talking about!

Trash TV.

Trash talk.

and a Judgmental attitude.

4. CELEBRATE

EVEN in the midst of a bad mood, you can find something to celebrate. Here are a few things to celebrate:

Today and all that God has given you.

The fact that you woke up this morning.

You’re breathing.

You have a roof over your head.

Your family. etc

Find the good!

And then…SMILE. A smile sets the tone for happiness. A smile slaps the enemy in the face and says, “No you will not steal my joy, my happy, or my peace. I'm putting my positive pants on and taking charge of my attitude, my mood and my day!”

Yall, life is way too short to waste it on being in a bad mood. You have the power to change today! Don’t let a bad mood win!

You got this!
